Time to get organised
For some time now I have been trying to get my life into some logical order. Chaos has always been my friend but I think he has become too settled now in my life and its time to kick him out and get organised. Both my private and professional life seems to be a series of lost post-it notes and forgetting appointments.
I have tried using my smart phone as a diary planner but it just does not seem to work. So a friend of mine suggested a Filofax. After I stopped laughing and jaunted back to reality after several 80’s flashbacks and the image of Del boy falling through the bar, I realised that it may not be a bad idea after all so I went to their website to find out more.
Much to my surprised they offered a range of great styled personal organisers and they come with some cool accessories and diary inserts meaning I could have a great looking leather diary to help me managed my time and life in general more.
So I thought right let’s do it and brought myself a gorgeous Finchley personal organiser made of soft grained leather in imperial purple – not sure why they didn’t just call it just purple but I guess it sounds good! But I didn’t stop there I then though I want to pimp up this new life organiser so I brought myself some more diary organiser refills (well it is the middle of the year so I thought I better have the 2011 refills as well). I also got myself a double sided Filofax business card holder to help me keep those important business cards I seem to put down every where and then lose.
After a month of my purchase – and still somewhat sceptical that it would work – it has been worth every penny as I am now a fully organised machine. Who would have thought it hey? These things are great and I’m just kicking myself I didn’t get one sooner and trying to opt for an electronic organiser. Nothing beats the feeling of noting things down in my leather diary. It has helped me on many levels as I now don’t miss appointments; annoy friends and family by missing there birthdays and keeping track of my movements and spending.
This little purple leather book has now completely changed my life. It’s also a talking point as when people see it, it always becomes a topic of conversation and I find myself selling the idea of a Filofax to everyone who appears slightly interested. I wonder if Filofax offer a referral fee as I could make a small fortune. I’m glad I got over my initial judgement of the Filofax as being some sort of 80’s yuppie status symbol.
I think now that we live in an age of electronic devices where everything is now in electronic format, it is a breath of fresh air to have something that is truly full of character and has a unique touch and smell. I just have to conclude here by saying that modern day Filofax’ like mine are great for not only keeping you organised but they are pretty trendy little things to have too.
