What would you like to get out of life?
In Personal Development the word goals is used a lot. It is used to motivate the individual to achieve their dreams, aspirations and what they would like to achieve in life. Setting goals can be very powerful as you are setting the intention to achieve something and are asking the universe to allow it. Different words mean different things to different people. For me my goals are my dreams and wishes. What I aspire to be or want. (Although the word, want, isn't always appropriate) so I will use the word have. What I would like to have. Wanting means lacking, so lack is what you will receive if you want something. When I have attended seminars, courses etc setting goals or intentions are usually what inspires the delegate to gain the most out of the course. It is a very good thing to do and really does focus the mind on sorting out what is a priority in your life and what isn't. To be inspired to achieve these goals is also another aspect. Recognising what is preventing and stopping you getting there is so important and once you do, it can be enlightening. These limitations are the blocks that hold you back in life and prevent you from achieving what you would like to have. There are a lot of definitions of the word goal in the dictionary: objective, design, intention, intent, plan, idea, ambition, aspiration, wish, dream, hope, to name a few. So to motivate yourself, if goal doesn't do it for you, using a different word can really make a difference. So try it! Another beneficial daily practice to get into is to write down your intentions the night before for the next day. I tell you, it really works! If you have a difficult, challenging meeting/interview, whatever, before you go to sleep write down something positive in a notebook/journal about how you would like the situation to turn out e.g. I allow myself to have a pleasant, productive and successful outcome to...(describe situation) and to allow it to happen with ease. Every New Year we sit down as a family and write down our wish list for the coming year, individually and as a family. We also review the past year, the highs and lows, gains and disappointments and then have a frank discussion as to how we feel. This is such a therapeutic exercise to do. It clears the negative energy of the past and so renews it for the future. There is no doubt about it, clearing out the old will allow the new to come into your life and I would recommend for anyone to try this, especially for people who do not enjoy the experience of New Year. It does focus the mind and helps you to look forward to what is to come, with optimism; and also you are manifesting what you would like to get out of life! I promise you, you will see a difference! Setting goals, intentions or whatever you'd like to call them is a very positive habit to get into. Try it and see the results for yourself.
